Undertale!

I whipped this up for the Undertale Anniversary in about a day, and even going back and looking at it now, I'm still rather pleased with the result.

Stardew Valley

I've been playing a lot of Stardew Valley recently and let me tell you, it is such a time sink.

Have an update, with 3D stuff!

Some artist friends and I did a sort of round robin with character concepts, where we roughed out a bunch of ideas then passed them along to see what would happen with the final product for a Guardian design. The only thing we all were in immediate agreement on was crazy antlers.

So my initial brush sketches where I tried to get an idea for the silhouette:

and then Alyson Phillips ended up doing our final Concept image for the creature, which I then have modeled. This is the base mesh, the UV's our laid out. All it needs is texture which will come in the next week or two, hopefully. Barring any outside work.

I may or may not have characters for a thing. The twins came out a little weird but overall for some quick concepts it gets the job done

Cervitaur/Forest spirit concept. I might turn it into a model, see if I can play with blend shapes to make the antlers morph.

Until then it's just a rough concept.

I recently watched Over the Garden Wall and what a fantastic show that is.

One more bit of Gravity Falls fanart because the episode "Sock Opera" was really fantastic.

I really enjoy Gravity Falls, and what started out as a couple warm up sketches quickly became finished pieces. Whoops.

Private commission for a client who wanted a reference for his hexapodal alien race. Not gonna lie, I enjoy making four armed things, a lot.

Some Kaiju busts I did for prints. I plan to do a bunch more but I'm going to do them in batches to keep form burning out.

More Illustrations

More illustrations from my contract work. I was able to keep most of the rights to the work thus I am able to show them off as portfolio work and I am able to modify them as I want! I plan to do several color studies on a few of them, especially the raptors. Until that time, however, it is now back into the 3D swing! I have been greatly neglecting 3D work.

Here are a few more images from my contract stuff in the mean time. In order: Velociraptor, stegosaurus, tyrannosaurus

There are more images (Including some boats) on my website! http://www.artofjul.com

That's all for now!

Nagi Model Sheet

Plus the creation process for this character.

Nagi is a guide who, with her hood up, can see in what might be considered 'pitch black'.

I had a good idea of what I wanted this character to look like, so the process went smoother than other characters.

Color schemes.

"Finalized" design.

Character sheet

Model sheet.

I normally don't share this, but I managed to remember to save all the steps that went into creating her, and thus decided to share my process.

Next comes the model!

Riding Raptor

Tried out 4K maps for this beast. I like and don't like it. On on hand I get get a lot of detail in and it makes it easier for me to be loose, on the other it's also very easy to get unruly and it's easy to focus too much on details and makes things look bad later.

I am going to probably re-rig the model, and tweak it some more should I decide to animate this model. But for now I am going to call it "done".

Based on this concept:
Art by me.

Render from another view. Before I fixed the ugly seam.

Cave Dragon Sketch

Sketch for a cave dragon I want to now model. I actually enjoy the sketch as a stand alone piece, possibly because I have a strange fondness of bio luminescent things.

Knight Concept

Concept image for a model I'm slowly blocking in. I'm possibly going to go back and tweak her outfit a bit, but this is the general idea so far.

That's about it for now~!

Tease

Photoshop, 5 hours. Still have a few things that need fixing but this is what I ended with.

Now onto 3D work!
